Local singer/songwriter and participator in many projects Brent Kirby has been hosting his 10X3 musician showcases at Brothers Lounge for nearly five years. These aren’t typical open mic nights. Instead, musicians (or bands) contact him ahead of time to register for a slot to perform three songs of which at least two must be originals. Because of this and because of his wide-ranging contacts in the music community, some of the area’s best musicians show up in the lineups.
Kirby is now adding Akron to his circuit, giving musicians to the south an opportunity to take part in their own backyard. He’ll be hosting a 10X3 night at Musica in Akron, with the first one taking place tonight. It’s free for listeners.
