Tom Schorgl of Community Partnership for Arts & Culture talks about Issue 8, the historic renewal of the funding for Cuyahoga Arts and Culture (CAC), which has provided over 1200 grants totaling over $125 million to over 2300 programs throughout the region.
Beyond just arts and culture, the CAC was launched with support from organized labor, the business community, arts & tourism, neighborhood development, and health & human services.
In looking at a report on the impact of the CAC in our region, Schorgl notes, “That report showed that over $2 billion dollars of real economic impact was being generated in Cuyahoga County. That number provides lots of jobs, in the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors.”

In addition, Schorgl, points out that a strong and vibrant arts & culture sector helps “to distinguish Greater Cleveland and Cuyahoga County when it comes to the reason that we have a great quality of life here; we have really fine educational programs, and neighborhood development.”
