The often-manic Whiskey Daredevils have never been known to hide their light under a barrel. The group formed in 2003 as an offshoot/continuation of the long-running cowpunk band the Cowslingers, with high-energy frontman vocalist Greg Miller and drummer Leo P. Love from that group, along with bassist Sugar Wildman and guitarist Gary Siperko. The group is prolific, having released eight albums in … wait — make that nine. The group’s latest Nashville Surprise is just out and — surprise! — it was recorded in Nashville.
“This is probably our biggest ‘rock’ record we have ever done, hence the title,” they say. “Why on earth did we go to the cradle of country music and blast through a bunch of in your face Daredevils songs? I dunno. As Leo said years ago, We learn no lesson, we learn no lesson.”
The album’s available in red vinyl, as a CD or a download. They aim to accommodate! They’ll celebrate the new disc with the show at the Beachland Tavern with Lords of the Highway — Sugar’s former band — opening.
Admission is $8.
