Fri 10/2 @ 4-8PM
Designer/artisan Angelina Pata was looking for more outlets for her handmade jewelry when she and her husband John took a leap and decided to open a small retail store in Ohio City in a space on W. 28th that had formerly been an occasional pop-up shop for Ohio Knitting Mills. They called it Blackbird Fly.
Once they did that, they knew that had to focus on more than jewelry, so Angelina put together a beautifully curated collection of women’s apparel, shoes and accessories as well as jewelry, of course, sourced from small specialty designers and boutique manufacturers who are on the cutting edge of trends. She purchases them in small quantities so you won’t see your look at every event. And she has tried to make sure that 50% of what they sell is American-made.
Now it’s been a year since their opening in September 2014 and they’re celebrating with a party. Among other things, they’ll have cookie dough samples from Batch, an Ohio City-based business, which concocts frozen cookie dough with all fresh, local, organic ingredients.
And all this weekend, 10/2-4, they will be having special sales including 30% off spring and summer clothes and shows, an extra 20% off clearance items and BOGO 50% off all candles. Stop in and sign up for the gift certificate raffle. The winner will be drawn on Sun 10/4 @ 2PM and you don’t have to be present to win.
