Mon 3/30 @ 8PM
The 20-member ensemble Alarm Will Sound formed at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York in 2001. Their goal was not just to perform music by contemporary composers but to help push the boundaries of contemporary music through collaborations not just with composers but with visual artists, choreographers and stage directors to create multimedia works. They’re a group that’s always looking over the horizon at the next challenge.
When they come to Cleveland to perform at Cleveland State’s Drinko Recital Hall, they’ll perform an intriguing mix of material drawing on a variety of musical genres by Charles Wourinen, Sean Friar, Caleb Burhans, Aphex Twin, Steve Reich (a piece inspired by Radiohead commissioned by Alarm Will Sound and recorded by them for a CD they released last fall) and Baldwin-Wallace assistant professor of music Clint Needham. They’ll also premier a new work, Vesper Voices, by CSU professor and composer Andrew Rindfleisch.
The performance is free.
