Local bass player Tony Cuda will be celebrating his 60th birthday at Nighttown, doing what he doing he does best: herding jazz cats. That’s the title of his latest CD and Jazz Cats is also the name of the ensemble he’s putting together for the occasion to play some music from that CD.
Among the outstanding local jazz musicians who’ll be joining Cuda at Nighttown to celebrate his birthday are trumpeter Joe Miller, sax player Dave Sterner, keyboardist Dan Maier, drummer Steve Renko and guitarist Chris Cuda who is, yes, his brother. He’s promising special guests as well. Given the reach of these musicians and who they know, that could make for a very special evening indeed.
“I could not think of a better way to celebrate my 60th birthday than having my favorite musicians together to play original music,” says Cuda.
Admission is $10.
