Wed 11/19
Robyn Hitchcock is one of those eccentric rockers endemic to England from who you should always expect the unexpected and possibly the inexplicable.
Now 61, he first appeared in the ’70s with a beloved but obscure group called the Soft Boy. Since then he’s made piles of albums, including his new The Main Upstairs, incorporating his playfully surreal lyrics with distinctively British imagery, his odd sense of humor, and his whimsical drawings. There’s virtually no way he was ever going to be a major star, but of course he’s precisely the type of artist to attract a fanatical cult following, which of course he has.
He’ll be at the Music Box Supper Club. Oddly, his opening act will be Akron’s Shivering Timbers, a hard-hitting, all–American roots rock band with potentially very broad appeal.
Tickets are $28.
