From the procession of delegates into Quicken Loans Arena to the unfurling of a huge Rainbow Flag, the Opening Ceremonies of Gay Games 9 in Cleveland on Sat 8/9 was an event to celebrate.
Special guests included The Pointer Sisters, Lance Bass, Glee’s Alex Newell, Broadway’s Andrea McArdle (Annie) and Cleveland’s own Anne E. DeChant, who brought down the house with her live band. President Barack Obama offered a taped welcome, and Senator Sherrod Brown and his lovely wife Connie Schultz earned the loudest applause of the evening for their vocal support of gay marriage.
