Fri 7/11
The second Friday in July was an especially busy night for gallery openings since the first Friday was July 4. We hit a couple of them, both featuring a pair of artists who were interactive in some way.
Zygote Press’s Gallery opened “The Rasmuson Exchange.” It featured the work of Alaska artist Jimmy Riordan who spent some time in Cleveland, while Cleveland artist Melissa Daubert, whose work was in the adjoining room, spent a month in Alaska, creating a piece to document each day of her stay there.
Over at the Maria Neil Art Project on Waterloo Road, husband-and-wife artists Bruce Edwards and Laila Voss showed their work in “Convergence/Divergence.” Edwards produced prints based on shots from an old movie, while Voss created evocative small sculptures using industrial materials.
