The Cleveland Orchestra welcomes back a frequent visitor — pianist/conductor Mitsuko Uchida.
She did a stint as artist-in-residence from 2002-2007, where one of her projects was to perform all of Mozart’s piano concertos, conducting from the piano. And she won a Grammy for her 2009 recording of two of the concertos with the orchestra.
Since then she’s been back many times, including this past December, when she performed in two Beethoven concertos.
This time, she’s back to her beloved Mozart. She’ll reprise his concertos No. 18 and 19, again conducting and soloing, with concertmaster William Preucil leading the orchestra. Mozart’s Symphony No. 23 is also on the program.
