The new leader of the Akron Area Arts Alliance…

The Akron Area Arts Alliance (AAAA) has named a new leader. Enter Sandy Kreisman, an arts administrator with 30 years’ experience in leadership positions.

Sandy will direct the daily operations of AAAA and its Summit Artspace, which serves as a gallery, community arts center, and creative business center.

About AAAA: “Founded in 1991, AAAA is the collaborative voice of Greater Akron’s non-profit arts and cultural community. Its members include more than 50 arts and culture organizations and individual arts advocates in Summit, Portage, and Medina counties.”

I love Akron, but hopefully Ms. Kreisman takes a page out of ArtsInStark’s book a short drive down I-77 in Canton. It’s phenomenal what they have done for Downtown Canton with First Fridays and all of the art galleries, indy musicians and street performers there. I would dearly love to see Akron build the Main-Market and Northside districts into something truly vibrant like what the Canton Arts District has become.
