WAGS 4 KIDS: Catchy name. Great cause.

WAGS 4 KIDS
Catchy name. Great cause.

It’s a catchy name for Working Animals Giving Service for Kids. Help them out on Sat 8/6 at their benefit Duck Races event @ the Eastland Inn in Berea.

What kind of service is it, you may ask? (I did.) WAGS 4 KIDS has been training and placing skilled companion animals since 2004. The animals are placed with children who have disabilities that require assistance with mobility. The nonprofit organization tries to place the animals with the children as soon as possible in the interests of providing early intervention. The organization is run by dog breeder and trainer Wendy Nelson, who oversees all the training aspects, and special education certified Director of Placement Ed Crann, who makes placement decisions.

Have you ever been to a duck race? You’re trying to imagine how they get ducks to race, aren’t you? Well, they’re not real ducks, but they float, some faster than others. The duck race begins at 2PM.

The fundraising event promises to be fun. Big-ticket items like a 48” television, a deluxe grill, and the Whiskey Wagon wheelbarrow filled with top shelf spirits will be raffled off. Children’s games, a puppy kissing booth, pony rides, and carnival foods round out the day. The donation is $10 for adults and $5 for children.

Eastland Inn owners Dave and Liz Peterkoski opened their doors to WAGS 4 KIDS seven years ago when they allowed the first dog in training to be brought into the Eastland Inn. They have been huge supporters ever since. Check out the kids and dogs on the website— you’ll want to become an event sponsor.

Eastland Inn is at 33 Eastland Road, Berea, Ohio. Doors open at 11AM and the event will run from 12-8PM on Sat 8/6. For more information, go to http://WAGS4KIDS.org.
