Celebrate All Things Pickle at Akron’s Picklefest

Sun 8/9 @ 10AM-5PM

Oddmall, which specializes in presenting offbeat festivals and markets featuring out-of-the-mainstream vendors, is the promoter (along with Stray Dog) behind Picklefest, taking place at Lock 3 Park in downtown Akron. The event actually kicks off at 9am with the Pickle 5K, before the doors open at 10am for the all-day festival and what they call “a preposterous preponderance of pickled provisions, provocative pleasantries, prominent peddlers, and prodigiously preposterous pastimes.”

They’ve got almost two dozen food trucks booked, some with pickle-related treats, some with a variety of other foods. They have more than 65 artist/crafts vendors of all type. When you aren’t eating or shopping, you can take art in pickle games, contests and tournaments, such as Pickle Eating, Fishing for Pickles, Greased Pickle Toss, Bobbing for Pickles and many more. There’s even a pickle parade. And at 3:30pm, the ridiculously entertaining local “trombone rock” band Massive Hotdog Recall will perform on the Lock 3 stage. There will also be a “Charity Pickle Path,” with various pickle-related treats from local Akron-area charities: $10 to sample and vote for your favorite.

There’s no admission fee so bring the whole family whether they like pickles or not. Go HERE for complete information including a list of vendors and food trucks.
