Not only is there no upstaging this arts event, UpStage Players Artisan Show is being staged at the Slovenian Workmen’s Home, whose name connotes Old World craftsmanship. On Sat 2/12 from 9AM – 3PM, browse the independent pop-up boutique and craft show at 15335 Waterloo Rd. in Cleveland’s Waterloo Arts District. Proceeds from the handcrafted and handpainted keepsakes, magnets, jewelry, bath and body products, candles, toys, and needlework purchased at the Artisan Show will benefit Upstage Players. Food, raffles, prizes and face painting will round out the daytime family-fun activities.
UpStage Artisan Alley is a fundraiser for UpStage Players (http://UpStagePlayers.com), a children’s theater company. While visitors are shopping for the perfect gift or winter pick-me-up item at Artisan Alley, UpStage Players will rehearse their upcoming musical production on the stage that was dark until UpStage Players lit it up again a few years ago. Patrons can mix it up with the cast and crew of the upcoming presentation of Seussical: The Musical. The musical is based on the Dr. Seuss book Horton Hears a Who and features characters from other Seuss books, including the Cat in the Hat, who is the narrator of the show.
The nonprofit theater company has presented Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and other theater productions in the past. The productions give children skills for the stage and for life. The theater company’s website reveals the depth of the childrens’ experiences and the excitement of the community in having theater in the growing Arts District. Seussical, Jr. will be presented during the weekend of Fri 4/15 – Sun 4/17 at the Slovenian Workmen’s Home. The stage will be filled with enthusiastic young thespians, aged 5-17, from all along the lakeshore.
While out in the Waterloo/North Shores Collinwood area for the art show, walk all over Waterloo during Valentine’s Day weekend, Fri 2/11 – Sun 2/13. The entire Waterloo Arts District is coordinating its efforts to show off its art galleries, thrift stores and foodie shopping, music, and dining opportunities. Waterloo Arts District aims to keep its reputation as a place where cool stuff is part of the scene. Live music at the Beachland Ballroom is at the heart of Collinwood, which is also home to an independent record shop and Grovewood Tavern and Wine Bar.Northeast Shores, the North Shores Collinwood community development corporation, serves as the lakeshore neighborhood’s engine to create synergy between residents, those who work in the area, and visitors. Northeast Shores helps market residential real estate and entrepreneurial efforts. Its activities have resulted in over $42 million in neighborhood investment in the last ten years. The Waterloo Village Model Block area features rehabbed homes ready for market.
Take a look around the neighborhood and note the improvements when you make your way to UpStage Artisan Alley. Plan on getting tickets for Seussical, and sign up to get e-mails with updates on what’s going on in the old neighborhood that is now known as North Shores Collinwood and the Waterloo Arts District.
Upstage Artisan Alley, in Cleveland’s Waterloo Arts District of North Shores Collinwood, is open for meandering art loves on Sat 2/12 from 9AM – 3PM, at 15335 Waterloo Rd.

Thank you so very much – what a beautiful article about Upstage, to see those kids is to love them. Words, well maybe your words, cannot express our appreciation for what you wrote.
