Kent’s Hal Walker is an affable folk musician/educator/musical instrument inventor whose tunes have enough depth to appeal to adults and enough charm and accessibility to appeal to kids — and his background as an educator gives him a special knack for reaching all sorts of people. In addition, the collection of self-invented weird instruments he uses gives his music a distinctive sound and an engaging point of entry.
Although Walker has generally been known for performing solo, he’s got a new five-piece band, which will join him as he celebrates the release of his latest full-length album, Life Wonderful, at the Kent Stage. Tickets are $5 in advance, $10 at the door.
