This time of year, many theaters roll out the spookiest production they can think of with horror being a staple during this season. So it’s unsurprising that Blank Canvas Theatre is presenting Frankenstein The Musical for the next three weekends.

Based on the well-known 1818 gothic novel by Mary Shelley, the musical, with music by Mark Baron and book and lyrics by Jeffrey Jackson, debuted off Broadway in 2007, sticking pretty faithfully to the original storyline (which most fans of horror literature know) and adding songs such as “Birth to my Creation,” “The Waking Nightmare,” “The Creature’s Tale” and “The Modern Prometheus.” It’s directed by Blank Canvas founder and artistic director Patrick Ciamacco.
