All-Star Local Lineup Celebrates Legacy of Tri-C-Produced TV Shows

Rachel Brown & the Beatnik Playboys

Tue 10/24 @ 7PM

For 12 years, from 2001-2013, one of the projects of Tri-C Metros’s Recording Arts & Technology and television production programs was two series of cable shows called Crooked River Groove and Words & Music presented.  They recorded more than 400 episodes, which featured more than 200 northeast Ohio musicians and songwriters in diverse genres, showcasing the range of original music that was being made (and still is!) here in Cleveland.

Now Tommy Wiggins and David Kennedy, both of whom formerly taught in the Tri-C programs, will be hosting the Friends of Crooked River Groove Reunion + Concert at the Beachland Ballroom.

The array of acts performing includes reggae ensemble Shākē (pronounced Shaky) Ground, alternative rockers Falling Stars, songwriter/vocalist Brent Kirby, songwriter Tracy Marie and Friends, veteran acoustic duo Jen Maurer and Bill Lestock, Latin jazz piano virtuoso Jackie Warren, indie rocker Xela, sunny Dreadlock Dave’s band Automatic Alien Entropy, rootsy rockers The Jack Fords, Americana-style ensemble Rachel Brown and the Beatnik Playboys, and pianist/songwriter Wiggins.

The concert is free and all are welcome, even if you had no connection with the show. Donations to cover production costs are encouraged.
