Men of Independence Chorus Shares Its Barbershop-Based Sound

Thu 5/7 @ 7PM

Founded about 25 years ago, Men of Independence called itself a “diverse, inclusive, men’s a cappella chorus dedicated to creating extraordinary harmony in the barbershop style, and fostering good will and fellowship wherever they perform.” It expands on the traditional barbershop quartet, with the same style of four-part harmonies, only more vocalists. They’ve performed everywhere from the Barbershop Harmony Society’s International Chorus Contest to Cleveland Guardians games, and host an annual holiday show. And yes, the name does come from the fact that they formed in Cleveland’s southern suburb of Independence, although its members now come from all over the greater metro area.

If you haven’t heard them or even heard of them, you have the opportunity to catch them at Trinity Cathedral downtown. It’s free.
