Les Délices Concert Pays Tribute to Mozart's Woman Contemporaries

Sun 3/22 @ 3-4:30PM

Cleveland baroque chamber orchestra Les Délices is hosting a special program at the Cleveland Museum of Art’s Gartner Auditorium called “Marianne Mozart.” It pays tribute to Mozart’s older sister Marianne (1751-1829) by offering a couple of her brother’s familiar pieces along with several written by his woman contemporaries.

The program opens with Mozart’s 1764 Sonata on B flat, K 31, and closes with his 1781 Sonata in C Major, K. 296. In between the audience will hear Franziska Lebrun’s 1780 Sonata in C Major, op. 2, no. 4; a movement of Maddalena Lombardini Sirmen or Ledovico Sirmen’s 1776 Sonata in A Major; two movements of Jane Mary Guest’s 1799 Sonata in B flat, op. 1, no 3; and Josepha Barbara Aurnahmmer’s 1792 Variations on “Der Vogelfanger bin ich ja.”

Two of its core members, violinist Shelby Yamin and fortepiano player Mark Edwards, will perform the pieces. Go here for tickets.
