Cleveland artist Jason Toth isn’t strictly a photographer although his work it photography based. It’s what he does with the images afterwards that’s arrested. He manipulates them, blends them, alters the colors and shows them on aluminum, creating still images that seem to move with countless layers of depth. And if you’ve stopped in his studio on the first floor of 78th Street Studios (just inside the main entrance to the left), you’ve seen his projected show where he actually makes his still images into a veritable film. Many of his base images are of Cleveland landmarks but you’ve never seen them like this before. There’s a lot of magic in his work.
If you want to know more about how he does what he does, he’s the next guest at the Community Culture Night at Old Brooklyn’s Art House. Stop by for a talk, presentation and Q&A session, as well as light refreshments. It’s free and open to all. You can RSVP at Art House’s website or just show up.
