Brett Wesley, who was well known in this area as the lead singer of the soul band Wesley Bright and the Hi-Lights and Wesley Bright and the Honeytones, moved on to another phase of his life when he began to colonize vacant Akron lots with beehives. Soon he and his team were turning their honey into a business, selling their honey at markets all over the area, and creating flavors such as bourbon, habanero and hibiscus honey.
In addition, Akron Honey hosts special events at their space, such as their 13th annual Akron Honey Market Day this weekend. They’ll be bringing in a host of other local vendors offering food products ranging from baked goods to seasonings to hot sauce to applesauce to prepared foods. The Akron Children’s Music will be providing special activities and DJ Forrest Gettumgump will be spinning tunes. It’s free and open to all.
