Jazz guitarist Charlie Hunter has been all over the musical map since releasing his first album in 1993. He’s become known for his custom guitars that allow him to play both bass and guitar, and he’s used that asset to perform as a sideman and in many collaborative configurations, most recently a series of releases with drummer Scott Amendola and a new project with Arrested Development vocalist Dionne Farris, growing out of a nearly 25-year friendship.
Because of his ability to cover many bases, Hunter often plays with only a handful of musicians — a drummer and sometimes one other lead instrument. When he comes to Nighttown, he’ll be leading a trio that also includes veteran jazz drummer Bobby Previte and young New Orleans-based trombonist Carly Meyers who leads her own band Yojimbo.
Tickets are $20.
