Sat 2/28 @ 9PM
Louisiana vocalist/accordionist Stanley Dural aka Buckwheat Zydeco is one of the best known practitioners of the distinctive form of regional Louisiana music known as zydeco.
Like many of his generation of zydeco players (he’s 67), he moved away from the traditionalism of the previous generation to incorporate a lot of R&B influence. In fact, in his youth he performed as an organist with many blues and soul artists and played funk in the ’70s when it was all the rage.
But he later returned to his roots, joining zydeco legend Clifton Chenier’s band in 1976. He caught the bug, switched to accordion and soon formed his own band which has been touring and recording ever since.
He and his band will be at Mahall’s 20 Lanes in Lakewood so get ready to get out on the floor and two-step the night away.
Tickets are $18 in advance, $20 at the door.
