10/16 @ 7PM
Some of you may be getting all excited about Halloween. But we cat lovers know that the BIG October holiday is National Feral Cat Day, the day we honor those cats left to fend for themselves outdoors and pledge to work to make their lives easier through trap-neuter-return programs and caring for their colonies. It’s been observed on October 16 every year since 2001.
This year, the Waterloo Alley Cat Project, which cares for stray felines in and around Waterloo Road in North Collinwood, is hosting a bash at the Beachland Tavern and is inviting all cat lovers to come.
There will be music by Cleveland’s Cobra Verde, fronted by cat lover John Petkovic, and acoustic singer/songwriter Shane Didow, whom we presume is a cat lover. DJs Littlelighthouse and Ghoulbunny will be spinning between sets, there will be food from local merchants, there will be a presentation on the work WACP does with lots of kitty pictures, and there will be Waterloo Alley Cat Project merch for sale if you’d like to support their work.
You’ll also have the chance to pick the calendar felines for Waterloo Alley Cat’s 2015 calendar. Around two dozen cats — former ferals and shelter cats — have been entered, and you’ll be able to view them all and judge them based on cuteness. Oh, that is going to be hard!
Best of all, the event is free. They’re counting on you to be so captivated by their precious kitties that you’ll just want to donate.
