Awaiting

03.10-17.21

Everyone is waiting for something.

Crafty Mart has been waiting for just the right permanent location to call their own. Now they’ve found one at Akron’s Bounce Innovation Hub, and you can take a tour and pitch in on their Kickstarter. Maelstrom Collaborative Arts isn’t waiting for the pandemic to be over; they’re instituting new models of creativity and performance.

The Akron Art Museum is still holding off on hosting Family Days in person, so for now it’s spring-inspired video projects. Local women got tired of waiting for suffrage, so they formed the consequential League of Women Voters. Michael Stanley meant something to just about everyone in our region; Anastasia Pantsios, Joe Kleon and I offer our memories and a bunch of cool photos. Whatever you’re going to do, don’t wait too long.

 VIDEO
School of Cleveland Ballet Summer Intensive

Gladisa Guadalupe, artistic director of Cleveland Ballet and School of Cleveland Ballet, talks with CoolCleveland about their upcoming 2021 Summer Intensive, which is accepting auditions now.

Following the strictest safety protocols, the School of Cleveland Ballet is one of the only ballet schools to offer in-person training right alongside their world-class company members. And for the first time, in acknowledgement of the economic challenges of the pandemic, the School of Cleveland Ballet is waiving their audition fees for interested students.  View the video.

See photo streams by Joe Kleon (who took the photo above) and Anastasia Pantsios. Read More

Lost in the Funhouse Again

Winter 1974, Saturday afternoon. We were bored. 16 years old. Gary was 17, riding shotgun. I had a 10-year-old Pontiac LeMans and we drove it up and down Brookpark Road. We were looking for something… Read More
