Last year, the first major events cancelled were St. Patrick’s Day Parades, usually the biggest processions of the year. And by that day, bars and restaurants were shuttered as well. Who would have thought then that St. Patrick’s Day would be the first major festival to be cancelled for a second year?
But please — don’t go to that packed bar that’s flouting social distancing and masking regulations and hosting an elbow-to-elbow drunken party. It’s not quite safe yet. Stay home to drink your beer (it’s safer anyway) and get in an Irish mood by tuning in to the Hudson Library & Historical Society’s Irish dance music concert, featuring a trio of musicians: Irish dancer, and Uilleann piper Brian Bigley, violinist Kristen Bigley and harpist/vocalist Tiffany Schaefer. You can dance in your living room to tunes such as “The Sheep in the Boat/Ships in Full Sail” and “The Curious Cat/The Open Door.” The program will also include music by 17th-century Irish composer Also featured will be music Turlough O’Carolan.
This concert debuts on the library’s Facebook page on Sunday, March 14 but it’ll be available after that on their YouTube channel so you can listen to it all week!
