Hale Farm Maple Sugaring Days Offer a Look at Syrup-Making Process

Sat 3/13-Sun 3/14 & Sat 3/20 & Sun 3/21 @ 9AM-4PM

One of the regular events at Hale Farm & Village each year is its Maple Sugaring Days — and because those take place largely outdoors, they’ll still be going on.

The village replicates the experience of 19th-century Ohio, and the event will share the long history of collecting sap at Hale Farmand making maple syrup and how the process changed over the years (not that much). Visitors will be able to see outdoor demonstrations such as tapping maple trees, oxen talks and the boiling of the sap to make syrup.  In addition, there’ll be demonstrations of other historical crafts such as blacksmithing, glass blowing and weaving going on all day.

And of course, a taste of the syrup will be available as part of a pancake breakfast with sausage links, fruit, coffee, juice and milk, available to eat there and take home.  The Marketplace will be open, featuring maple products as well as handcrafted items made in Ohio.

There’ll be a few changes, of course. Advance registration is required for timed admission, and masks and socially distancing are required. Admission is $17 for adults and $11 for children 3-12, which includes the pancake breakfast, and $7 for breakfast only.
