Master Improvising Trio In the Sea Performs at the BOP STOP

Wed 5/8 @ 8PM

The BOP STOP and New Ghosts Productions again join forces to present cutting-edge, improvisational music. String trio In The Sea features Tristan Honsinger on cello and voice, Joshua Zubot on violin and Nicolas Caloia on double bass.

Honsinger is the engine of the ensemble. He began his music career in Montreal nearly five decades ago when he moved to Canada to avoid being drafted during the Vietnam era and a few years later settled in Europe where he’s performed with most of the key figures in the improvising scene and built a stellar reputation as one of those figures.

Zubot and Caloia, a generation younger, are also from Montreal, although Zubor currently lives on Canada’s West Coast. And while, like most such players, they have many irons in the fire, they’ve toured together as In The Sea for a number of years. Together they make music that is full of eclectic surprises, with melody and chaos vying for aural space, and bits and pieces from a variety of genres, as well as odd sounds fitting no genre, flying by.

Tickets for he BOP STOP show are $15.
