Walk All Over Waterloo Features Art and Outdoor Music

Fri 9/6 @ 6-10PM

Post-Labor Day, the art season gets into full swing, with opening all over town. Walk All over Waterloo, the monthly walk in the Waterloo Arts District, is especially lively in that space between the doldrums of summer and the onset of winter.

At Waterloo Arts, stop in to check out the powerful show Some Dissassembly Required by Dan Miller, curated by the Maria Neil Art Project. Miller has created striking drawings that deal with the trauma of a near-death experience he had in 2017 when he was the victim of a hit-and-run accident on his motorcycle. He addresses things like depression and suicidal thoughts through his deceptively primitive-looking drawings that blend a hodge-podge of words, objects and ominous black blots.

Contemplate what you saw as you walk up the block to check out something in a more upbeat mood: Bob Perkowski’s photos taken of performers at local burlesque shows, many of which appeared in his recent book, Rust Belt Burlesque. More than 100 shots of these lavishly costumes artists are on the walls are of the Space: ROCK Gallery, and Bob will be in the gallery to sell and sign copies of his book, with text by Erin O’Brien.

Be sure to schedule some time to stop and listen to the free outdoor music, taking place on the Tower Stage at the corner of Waterloo and E. 156th Street, just outside Waterloo Arts. Singer/songwriter Lawrence Daniel Caswell performs at 6pm, followed by sophisticated eclectic popsters Goodmorning Valentine at 7.
