The Current Year Records & Tapes Celebrates Its Sixth Birthday with Horror Hosts and Pierogis

Sat 10/10 @ noon-6PM

The Current Year Records and Tapes describes itself as a “one-stop media shop,” sharing space with its next-door neighbor, Rudy’s Strudel — two landmark Parma businesses side by side. And while Rudy’s has been in business since 1948 in several locations, currently run by Lidia Trempe, the daughter of its former owner Eugenia Polatajko, The Current Year has just hit the six-year mark, opening, appropriately, on National Pierogi Day in 2020.  So both businesses are celebrating with a birthday bash.

The event will feature an appearance by internet horror show hosts The Mummy and The Monkey (Janet Decay and Grimm Gori) from noon-3pm, the kickoff of their annual food drive for local seniors, and Rudy’s offering their dine-in hot pierogi bar all day, including their signature music-themed pierogi.

“We opened on National Pierogi Day 2020 with a big Rudy’s pierogi party, so it’s only natural that we continue the tradition,” says co-owner Marie Stutz. “We’ve changed a lot since our opening day, and after adding tapes and other audio formats, we’ve generalized into a physical media store. Books, music, movies, magazines, if it’s physical media, we’ve probably got it!”
