The Cuyahoga County Public Library Foundation and Case Western Reserve University have announced the authors lined up for the 23rd season of their William N. Skirball Writers Center Stage series, taking place at the Maltz Performing Arts Center on the CWRU campus. Six diverse authors are booked to present talks, with three in the fall and three more in the spring.
The season starts on Monday September 14 with novelist/essayist/memoirist Jesmyn Ward, a Mississippi native who has used her home state as the background for many of her books, dealing with race, family and the rural south. On Thursday October 29, the series presents Columbus-based Alexis Nikole Nelson, @BlackForager, an outdoor educator and social media creator whose specialty is foraging for edible plants and creating vegan meals. While she has produced multiple videos, her debut cookbook is scheduled for September release. The final program of the fall season, on Thursday November 17, features noted actor/director LeVar Burton, known for his portrayal of Kunta Kinte in the TV series Roots, will be talking about his life and memoir set to be released two days before the program.
In the spring, subscribers and literary aficionados can look forward to hearing from best-selling novelist Virginia Evans (March 4, 2027); novelist/essayist Tayari Jones (April 19, 2027); and Booker prize-winning novelist George Saunders (May 6, 2027).
