Ekphrastacy is a regular program at Heights Arts that takes play once during the run of each of their gallery shows. In it, the Heights Poet Laureate— currently Michelle R. Smith — hosts other poets who perform their responses inspired by the work in the gallery and their interpretations of it, while the artists also share their perspectives.
This month, Smith will be joined by Marcia Camino, Samuel Oguntoyinbo and Tes Roberts, as they offer their thoughts on the group show Beyond Perception in the main gallery, featuring work by five artists that has been shaped by dealing with disability, and the work of Amelia Casiano in the Spotlight Gallery. The evening will include an ASL interpreter. It’s free and open to all, but you should register as it’s very popular. Go here.
