This week, the City Club wraps up its July series of free outdoor forums called “We The People,” taking place on the Playhouse Square Plaza across from its office.

It closes with a forum devoted to “How Things Really Get Done at the Ohio Statehouse,” or maybe it should be how they don’t get done. Many Ohioans are pretty angry right now with a legislature that takes back promised funding for public schools while devoting an insane amount of time to figuring out new ways to persecute transgender kids. It’s a legislature that was only recently embroiled in the $61 million First Energy scandal, possibly the biggest instance of corruption in modern Ohio history, with hints of other scandals in the offing.

Yes, tell us how that all happened and let us know what we, the citizens, can do to make consistently opaque, unproductive and uncaring government more responsive to the non-wealthy.

Panelists include Greg Lawson, a research fellow at the Buckeye Institute,; Rachel Coyle, founder of State Action Initiative, LLC and co-founder of How Things Work at the Statehouse; Marty McGann, founder of McGann Partners. Gina Wilt, advocacy director of COOHIO moderates.
