Now that they have an actual theater with a stage and pews providing raked seats at their new ohio City location, Visible Voice Books has started packing its schedule with intimate music events, many of them free.

This week, you can hear two of the most accomplished and active performers in the local scene when singer/songwriter/ guitarist Brent Kirby, who oversees the booking of the shows at Visible Voice, hosts RA Washington, co-founder and driving force behind one of the area’s most distinctive bands, Mourning [A] BLKStar, as part of casual Kitchen Table Songs series. Washington not only leads the jazz/hip hop/soul/spoken word ensemble as keyboardist and vocalist, he also has a background as a poet, novelist, journalist, and community organizer, and was the winner of the 2021 Cleveland Arts Prize for Music.
