Tue 4/14 @ 5-7PM
Growing season a barreling down upon us, despite the recent spate of sub-freezing days. And more and more, people are learning about the benefits to the environment, as well as to their own garden, of landscaping with native plants. And April is Native Plant Month.
In honor of that, Cuyahoga Valley National Park’s Low Power Happy Hour this month will be devoted to hearing from experts on native plants, with representatives from three northeast Ohio native plant providers: Sonia Bingham from Native Roots, Inc., Gale Martin from Natives in Harmony, and Dave Tomashefski from Meadow City Native Plant Nursery. They’ll talk about what kinds of plants are good to grow in various soil and light conditions, how to plant and care for them, and the benefits they’ll bring to your yard. In addition to a program and Q&A, the nurseries will have a small selection of their plants for sale.
Doors open for networking and plant sales at 5pm. The program starts at 5:30, with the Q&A at 6pm. The plant sale resumes from 6:30-7:30pm. It takes place at CVNP’s Happy Days Lodge. It’s free for CVNP conservancy members, $10 for others. Go here for tickets and more info.
