Mon 3/2-Sun 3/8
Now in its 15th year, Cleveland’s Short.Sweet.Film Fest bills itself as “the only film festival created by actual filmmakers.”
“We found it challenging to showcase our own short films at film festivals who mainly program around feature films,” they assert. “In the age of streaming there are more opportunities than ever before to share your work, but we often asked ourselves, ‘Do we really want to premiere our short film alongside silly kitten videos?’ Even though we love kittens (who doesn’t?), we love short films more and want to present them in the professional setting they deserve.”
The films may be short, but there are a TON of them — seven days, to be exact. Monday through Friday the screenings start at 7pm; on Saturday and Sunday you can gorge yourself from noon through the evening. Films are grouped by areas such as local international and student filmmakers, and subjects such as documentaries, horror films, comedies, animation, nature and environmental, science fiction, women’s films, Asian films, LGBTQ+ topics, experimental, action, family-oriented, music video and of course, those two favorites of every aspiring filmmaker: horror and action/thriller.
The event takes place at Atlas Cinemas at Shaker Square. Go here for a full schedule and tickets.
