Shaker Heights-based Radio on the Lake brings back the days when there were no stream-on-demand services and people gathered around the radio to listen to unseen actors perform dramas that stretched the imagination.
It’s been doing its latest series at Dunham Tavern in midtown which is where its next production takes place. The African Queen is based on the 1952 film in which Katharine Hepburn plays a spinster missionary in Africa during World War I who butts heads with a macho steamboat captain played by Humphrey Bogart while they dodge the Germans. Guess how this ends!
Don’t expect fancy production values; it’s all in the voice! After the performance the audience will have a chance to discuss it with the cast, crew and “special guests.”
