Dark Wave Dance Cave Matches the Month’s Gloomy Vibe

Sat 1/17 @ 9PM

If there’s a gloomy month, it’s got to be January, as your neighbors are starting to take down the twinkly lights on their lawns and eaves, though more and more people are leaving them up for a while to brighten up the long dark evenings and gray days.

And if you have seasonal affective disorder — that low-energy feeling of ennui caused by lack of sunlight — maybe some equally gloomy music is just what you need. Get out the heavy black clothes and the black eyeliner and lipstick and heard over to the Winchester Music Tavern in Lakewood for the monthly Dark Wave Dance Cave dance party. It should be in its glory right now, with DJs Mimi Dromette and Matthew Darkstar spinning a variety of tunes mostly from the 80s and 90s when goth, industrial, darkwave, post punk and synth pop were in their prime. You’ll likely hear some tracks by your favorite mopey band.

Admission is just $5.
