Chinese musician Rosa Lee was born in Taiwan in a musical family and began to learn guzheng, or Chinese zither, when she was seven. She continued her studies as she grew up, and in 1985, she moved to the U.S. bringing her instrument and musical knowledge with her. She’s performed at events, schools, colleges and museums and on broadcasts all around this area, and won awards and grants including an Ohio Heritage Fellowship and a Governor’s Award for the Arts.
She does more than just play, however. She passes her knowledge onto others, educating audiences about the music, its history and culture, and the guzheng. When she performs at Trinity Cathedral as part of its Brownbag concert series, she’ll demonstrate different styles of Chinese Zither music and give the audience a chance to ask questions.
The concert is free and open to all.
