Cleveland’s Lantern Theatre is known for its thematic, literature-based presentations tied into a season or holiday, such as its patriotic mash-up of historical American documents for the Fourth of July.

For the Halloween “season,” the ensemble stages its own version of the 1819 short story by Washington Irving, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. The ghostly tale of the headless horseman followed by the disappearance of a visitor to a small town has become a Halloween classic.

In 2016, Eric Schmiedl created an adaptation dubbed A Cold, Creepy Reading of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow that draws on music and storytelling. Once again, it will be back at the Dunham Tavern Museum & Gardens, with baked goods, coffee and cider to put the audience in a festive mood.
