This month, the Beck Center for the Arts is hosting its annual Cultural Heritage Exhibition, an exhibit showcasing work by visual artists who are inspired by culture, lifestyle or heritage. The year, it features the work of two Cleveland-area artists: Tracey Lind and Danté Rodriguez.

Lind was the dean of Trinity Cathedral in downtown Cleveland for two decades before retiring in 2017. During that time she became known as one of Northeast Ohio’s strongest voices for human rights, social and environmental justice, and progressive Christianity  that embodied the teachings of Jesus Christ centering diversity, equality and inclusive. She also had a passion for photography and her work, infused by her passion for justice, was widely exhibited.

Rodriguez is a muralist, painter and digital artist, who is currently outreach manager for the Cleveland Museum of Art’s Community Arts Center at the Pivot Center. His work is inspired by his personal family history and his cultural roots. At Beck he’ll be showing pixel artworks featuring stickers on gypsum board that combine retro-gaming nostalgia with personal memory.

There will be a free reception for each artist during the show’s run. Lind’s reception is on Friday October 3 from 6-7:30pm, with an informal artist talk at 6:45. Rodriguez’s will be on Friday October 24 from 6-7:30pm.

 The show is on view through October 31; it’s free and open to the public.
