Alla Boara has brought a whole new sound to the Northeast Ohio and started to make a splash regionally with music that doesn’t really fit in any genre anyone else is playing. Formed by jazz drummer Anthony Taddeo, the music is based on his interest in the folk music (some of it obsolete) of his ancestral country of Italy. He and his cohort of skilled musicians filter it through their considerable chops in jazz and other genres. Although the songs are sung in Italian, the band shares the stories behind them, generally about the lives of ordinary working people, including their desire to leave their homes and start fresh in America.
Alla Boara will be performing their program “Crossroads” in concert at Trinity Cathedral with help from another distinguished musician: vocalist/plucked instrument player Brian Kay, whom local audiences will recognize from his performances with Apollo’s Fire and Les Delices.
