The Rust Belt Photo Collective is a new, informal organization of area photographers who meet monthly to share information, do educational presentations and plan opportunities for members to exhibit.

Despite existing only since the beginning of the year, the organization is already hosting its second show, Women Under 50/Women Over 50, currently on view at Doubting Thomas Gallery in Tremont. In it pairs of photographers, one under 50 years of age, the other over, turned their cameras on each other, in the process getting to know one another better. The show opened on Friday August 8 and will be on view through the end of the month.

If you didn’t make it, you can stop by the gallery on Tuesday August 19. The evening will start at 6:30 with a half hour RBPC meeting —if you think you’d be interested in taking part in the group’s activities, please come! At 7 some of the photographers in the 50/50 show will talk about their photo and their experience in working with their partner to create it.

The event is free and all are welcome.
