NEWS: Cleveland Musicians Union Hosts Two National Musician Conferences This Week

The week of August 18-23 is a big one for national/international performing arts organization conferences in Cleveland helping to focus on the area’s growing reputation as an arts hub.

The Cleveland Federation of Musicians, AFM Local 4, is acting as host to the 2025 Theatre Musicians Association (TMA) conference (August 18-19) and the International Conference of Symphony and Opera Musicians (ICSOM) gathering (August 20-23, the latter, which brings together members of 51 orchestras, co-hosted by The Cleveland Orchestra. Both are player conferences of the American Federation of Musicians (AFM) of the United States and Canada.

Senator Sherrod Brown, who just announced his run to reclaim a seat in the U.S. senator currently held by appointee Jon Husted, will speak to ICSOM delegates on Saturday morning and then a Musicians Against Dictators at noon on Perk Plaza. in Perk Plaza on East 12th Street and Chester Avenue. www.MADcle.com
