Beck Center Stages Classic Musical “A Chorus Line”

Beck Center Stages Classic Musical "A Chorus Line"

Fri 7/11-Sun 8/10

A Chorus Line, the 1975 musical created by Michael Bennett, with music by Marvin Hamlisch and lyrics by Edward Kleban, was a sensation, transferring from Off Broadway to Broadway where it was a huge hit, becoming the longest running production in Broadway history until unseated by Cats in 1998. It won nine Tonys and a Pulitzer Prize. Strikingly different from big-production musicals, it was a bare-stage, character-based show that focused on the personalities of a group of dancers auctioning for the titular chorus line. It produced songs such as “One,” “What I Did for Love” and “At the Ballet.”

That classic musical will now be staged at the Beck Center for the Arts for the next five weeks, directed and choreographed by Christopher Chase Carter (who has worked on this musical three previous times), with assistant choreography by Liz Conway and musical direction by David Robison and a cast of 26 performers.

It runs Fridays and Saturdays, as well as certain Thursday, at 7:30pm and Sundays at 2:30pm. Get tickets here.
