Mac’s Backs in Coventry Village will once again have its doors open late to host a double-barreled author reading.
Nick Gardner, whose novella Hurricane Trinity was published earlier this year, describes himself as “a writer, teacher, and recovering addict.” A 2017 OSU grad, he went on to earn an MFA in fiction at Bowling Green State University in 2021. He’s also published a book of poetry and has published and won awards for fiction, nonfiction and poetry and researches drug use and alternative recovery methods. Hurricane Trinity touches on such contemporary issues as climate change, mental health and homelessness.
Toledo-area poet Kerry Trautman co-founded of ToledoPoet.com and the “Toledo Poetry Museum” Facebook page to promote the poetry scene in Northwest Ohio. Her work has appeared in numerous small magazines and anthologies and she’s published five books of her poetry in the last decade. Her novella Irregulars is described as “not unlike a Robert Altman film with a sprawling & stellar ensemble cast,” revolving around a diner waitress who stories intertwine with those of customers and fellow workers.
The reading is free and open to all.
