DANCECleveland Announces 2023-24 Season

Local dance presenting organization DANCECleveland has just announced its 2023-24 series of modern and contemporary dance performances. They include five major ensembles, two making their Ohio debuts.

But first, they kick off the season on July 29 with their annual Community Dance Day, which offers classes in a variety of styles including ballet, modern, flamenco, African drum and dance and more for dancers of all skill levels. And it also includes the Northeast Ohio Student Showcase, with performances by studios and youth dance groups from across the region. It all takes place at Playhouse Square.

The first performing group of the season is Music from the Sole, who will be at Cleveland Heights’ Cain Park on Saturday, August 5. The company combines tap dance and live music, infusing their performances with Afro-Brazilian influences, as well as house and jazz.

Later in the season they’ll be presenting PHILADANCO! On Saturday November 11 at Playhouse Square’s Mimi Ohio Theatre; the Paul Taylor Dance Company Saturday January 20, 2024 at the Mimi Ohio; SALT Contemporary Dance Sunday March 3, 2023 @ the Breen Center for Performing Arts; and Vertigo Dance Company on Thursday April 18 at the Mimi Ohio.

Each show will feature pre-show talks with visiting artistic director and post-show Q&As with the dancers. Each dance company will also offer free master classes for local dancers.
