LatinUs Theater Reflects on the Impact of Political Turmoil on Ordinary People

Fri 9/16-Sat 10/9

La Siempreviva, the next production from Spanish-language theater LatinUs, isn’t exactly light fare.  Written by Colombian playwright Miguel Torres, it revolves around the story of terrorist group M-19’s 1985 takeover of Bogota’s Justice Palace, seen through the eyes of ordinary people accidentally caught up in it. A law student working in its cafeteria vanishes and doesn’t appear among the survivors or the dead. It explores the impact of her disappearance on her family, friends and acquaintances.

Fabio Polanco directs the production, which is in Spanish with English supertitles. It takes place at LatinUs’s Blackbox Theater at the Pivot Center for Art, Dance and Expression in the Clark-Fulton neighborhood, with performances Friday-Sunday through October 9. Tickets are $25, $15 for students and seniors. Go here to get them.
