Cleveland Orchestra Performs All-Beethoven Evening at Blossom

Sun 8/7 @ 7PM

Anyone looking forward to the Cleveland Orchestra’s performance of that summer orchestral staple, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 (“Choral”) at Blossom Music Center may be a little disappointed. It requires an army of vocalists and members of the Blossom Festival Chorus have tested positive for COVID-19.

But the orchestra, led by guest conductor Jahja Ling, will be giving the audience a big dose of Beethoven to compensate. They’ll be performing his Symphonies No. 4 and No. 5, the latter almost as well known and frequently performed as No. 9, along with Overture to Egmont. The Kent Blossom Chamber Orchestra joins the Cleveland Orchestra for Symphony No. 5

At 6pm, the Kent Blossom Chamber Orchestra, led by Vinay Parameswaran, will take the stage for a pre-concert concert, performing Gabriel Lena Frank’s Elegia Andina and Maurice Ravel’s Le Tombeau de Couperin.
