The ongoing stream of rallies against the Supreme Court’s recent decision to strip women of guaranteed reproductive rights shows that the anger and pushback on this issue likely won’t be diminishing any time soon. Most recently, a couple of hundred people, both women and male allies, gathered at Shaker Square to show their support for letting women be in charge of their own bodies and lives.
Speakers included Democratic candidate for governor and lieutenant governor Nan Whaley and Cheryl Stephens, Democratic candidate for Cuyahoga County executive Chris Ronayne (whose wife, Natalie, is pictured below), Cleveland city council president Blaine Griffin, state representatives Juanita Brent and Kent Smith, CWRU law professor and reproductive rights expert Jessie Hill, and a gaggle of women doctors supporting the right of women and their health care providers to access the services they need without interference from politicians.
